About This Project

The Brief

Office Depot partnered with TransFirst, a leading payment processing company, to create a merchant services program aimed at small to mid-sized businesses. This collaboration introduced a mobile card reader compatible with iPhone and Android smartphones, enabling businesses to accept mobile payments. The product, which directly competed with popular solutions like PayPal and Square, was sold in select Office Depot locations across the U.S. The launch included branding the hardware, designing and developing the packaging, creating a microsite linked through Office Depot’s platform, and producing additional marketing and support collateral to drive awareness and adoption of the solution.

The Solution

The goal was to design a distinctive package for the mobile card reader while seamlessly integrating the client’s branding. Collaborating closely with the manufacturer, client, marketing, and design teams, we created a package that adhered to Office Depot’s brand guidelines and stood out on shelves, effectively competing with larger industry players. The result was a design that not only aligned with brand identity but also captured attention in a crowded retail environment.
